1971 Ford Falcon XY – Todays Muscle Car Tempter

We want this!

The XY Ford Falcon is the fourth and final iteration of the second generation of one of Australia’s most loved automotive monikers.

Released in October of 1970, the XY replaced the outgoing XW Falcon, and stayed in production until March of 1972.

Changes made over the XW were mostly cosmetic in nature, with the XY scoring a new front grille and a revised taillight design.

Ford also made efforts to improve the XY’s overall ride comfort and increase the levels of standard safety equipment.

The XY was made available to customers in four distinct body styles; a four-door sedan, a five-door wagon, a two-door ute and a two-door panel van.

Power was derived from a range of motors that included a 3.3lt or 4.1lt inline six-cylinder or a 4.9lt Windsor V8 or 5.8lt Cleveland V8.

The collective oomph from these engines was sent to the XY’s rear wheels via either a three or four-speed manual or a three-speed automatic transmission.

This particular XY is a 1971 model and started life as a six-cylinder Fairmont, however, it has since been converted to a stunning GT replica.

There’s been myriad modifications made to this Falcon, including the addition of a thumping 351ci Cleveland V8 complete with a mild cam, new 600cfm Holley carburettor, new electronic ignition and new extractors.

The hotted up faux Falcon GT is $69,000 and anyone interested in this tyre eviscerating machine can view the full listing here
