1970 XY Falcon – today’s tempter

Good resto project

The bluff good looks and a stunning racing history have helped to maintain XY-generation Fords among the ranks of the most popular local classics.

Though similar in appearance to its XW predecessor, there were significant upgrades. According to our feature on XW-XY Fords: “The XY when it arrived in November 1970 was far more than a revamped XW. External changes were limited to a new grille and front indicators, modified tail-lamps and body embellishments but mechanically and in terms of presentation the XY showed its makers’ commitment to keeping the brand in touch with Holden’s forthcoming HQ.”

This example is running a 250-cube six-cylinder powerplant with auto and is in the original Vermillion Fire livery.

Australian Muscle Car Sales in Sydney has it and says it would make a perfect basis for either a restoration or upgrade to GT spec. It’s priced at $52,500.
