Pretty and practical
The XW Ford Falcon is the third iteration of the second generation of one of Australia’s favourite automotive monikers.
Released in June of 1969, the XW replaced the outgoing XT Falcon, and stayed in production until October of 1970.
The XW brought with it mostly cosmetic changes such as a new front grille and a revised taillight design.
The XW was made available to customers in a number of different body styles that comprised a four-door sedan, five-door wagon, two-door ute and a two-door van.
Power came from a range different engines that included a 3.1lt and 3.6lt inline six-cylinder and a 4.9lt and 5.8lt V8.
The shove from these powerplants was sent to the XW’s rear wheels via a three or four-speed manual or a three-speed automatic transmission.
While it was only in production for 17 short months, the XW was a highly successful model for the Blue Oval, with over 105,000 being produced.
This particular XW is a 1970 ute and, according to the seller, it comes equipped with a rebuilt 302 Cleveland V8 with Holly extractors and a rebuilt four-speed top-loader gearbox.
The seller adds that the vehicle was restored approximately five years ago, comes with a road worthy certificate and drives like new.
The XW ute is $34,000 and anyone interested in this bent-eight Aussie brute can view the full listing here.
