Brit classic
If you had entertained the idea of getting a British classic that’s also a fun drive, an MGB is a great starting point.
One of the cars that defined motoring in the sixties, and surviving into the eighties (just), they were a spiritual predecessor to that other hugely successful droptop sports car, the Mazda MX-5.
In a feature on the series, we advised their popularity was helped by: “They don’t cost a million bucks, are mechanically simple and fairly robust, hold their value well and are actually fun to drive. Plus, there’s a huge worldwide support network for these cars, as they were built in big numbers (over 500,000!) from1962 through to 1980.”
This example is a little unusual in that it is an Australian assembled car with an automatic transmission behind the 1.8lt inline four.
Located on the Qld south coast, it’s on the market for $32,500.
