1970 Holden Brougham – today’s tempter

V8 Powerglide

Holden’s Brougham was always intended as a stop-gap way for Holden to compete in the local luxury market, however the model ended up gaining an enthusiast following.

In our feature on an HT, we noted: “The Brougham was pitched as Australia’s Cadillac, but luxury had a different meaning in the late-’60s. It meant more cut-pile carpet than a Persian rug factory, seats finished in imported brocade and embossed with a unique logo, pull-out map pockets and courtesy lights on every door, and an infinitely variable heater/demister.”

This example is running a 253 V8 matched to a two-speed Powerglide. The seller notes it is kitted out with GTS options and has been the subject of a full rebuild.

Located in Newborough, Vic, it’s on the market at $105,000.
