1970 Ford XW GT – today’s tempter

1970 Ford XW GT

It says something for the deceptively simple lines of Ford Falcons of this era that they remain in huge demand in the local classic market.

Our buyer guide for this series notes: “Ford’s XW GT was the leader of a new and more aggressive model range. Its basic structure still came courtesy of Ford in the USA but local stylists created a distinctive shape with enough under-bonnet space to accommodate the biggest of the company’s V8s.

“The GT engine had grown from 5.0 to 5.8 litres and was rated at 224kW. Four-speed manual transmission was standard in the GT, with three speed automatic an option.”

This example is running the premium combo of a 351 Cleveland V8, four-speed Top Loader manual transmission and 9-inch LSD.

The seller says it is running the correct numbers and has undergone minimal restoration over its life.

Australian Muscle Car Sales in Sydney has it on the market at $189,990.
