Big ‘square rigger’ Fords like this are right up there when it comes to collectability, particularly if they are an exceptional survivor.
In our profile on the series, we note: “Ford’s XW GT was the leader of a new and more aggressive model range. Its basic structure still came courtesy of Ford in the USA but local stylists created a distinctive shape with enough under-bonnet space to accommodate the biggest of the company’s V8s. One prototype with a seven-litre, 428 cubic inch engine was built but there would be none for regular production XWs.”
This example is running what turned out to be a premium driveline: a 4V 351 Windsor V8 with Toploader four-speed manual and 9-inch diff.
It’s listed as being in remarkable unrestored condition. Australian Muscle Car Sales in Sydney has it on the market at $249,990.
