1970 Ford XW Falcon 500 Ute – Todays Tempter

Decent, running condition – could be a great project base or cruise it as is

THE XW arrived as such a significant facelift in 1969, that many mistook it for an all-new model rather than an updated XR/XT.

The basic architecture carried over, however almost every panel was new for the XW, with new split lens tail lights, recessed rear window and a new “Power Mouth” grille. The interior too was virtually re-designed entirely.

Under the bonnet, the big news was the appearance of a stroked 302: with the 351ci V8 now available in various Falcons, subsequently birthing the GT-HO Phase I.

This XW ute presents in Falcon 500 specification.

Details are light within the listing, but it’s fitted with the 221ci inline-six mated to a three-speed manual.

It’s sitting on 12 slot wheels, and looks to be in decent nick throughout.

It looks to have been repainted, with the door jambs and engine bay remaining extremely clean. Inside, there’s an aftermarket steering wheel, but otherwise a presentable dash and seats.

The engine itself looks original – but it looks to be all there, and could be a great candidate for a minor restoration.

The car is on the more affordable end of XWs, listed at $22,990.

If you’re not afraid of some elbow grease, or are looking for a decent project – this XW 500 ute could be worth a look!

The car is based in New South Wales, you can check out the full listing here!
