1970 Ford Falcon XW – Todays Classic Tempter

Australia’s finest

The XW Ford Falcon is the third iteration of the second generation of arguably Australia’s greatest automotive moniker.

Released in June of 1969, the XW replaced the outgoing XT Falcon, and stayed in production until October 1970.

Changes made over its predecessor were predominantly cosmetic, with the XW scoring a redesigned front grille and taillights.

The XW also received significant interior restyling, aimed at making the cabin of the large family vehicle more opulent.

The XW was made available to customers in a number of different body styles that included four-door sedan, five-door wagon, two-door ute and a two-door panel van.

Power was derived from a range of different engines that comprised a 3.1lt and 3.6lt inline six-cylinder and a 5.0lt and 5.8lt V8.

The shove from these donks was sent to the XWs rear wheels via either a three or four-speed manual or a three-speed automatic transmission.

Although the XW was only in production for little over a year, it was a highly successful model for the Blue Oval, with over 105,000 XWs being sold in total.

This particular XW is a 1970 sedan and comes equipped with the 5.8lt V8 and automatic transmission.

According to the seller, the XW has travelled an original 100,997 miles from new and has recently had a complete interior re-trim.

The XW is $35,000 and anyone interested in this thumping Aussie V8 classic can view the full listing here
