Prior restoration with factory 318 V8 and auto
The Valiant was Chryslers wildchild of 1969, and was an instant hit with the youth audience.
Until the Valiant, and Pacer model especially, Chrysler didn’t quite have the sporty showroom offering that captured the interest of younger buyers in the way that its V8 sedans and VIPS appealed to the middle-age buyers.
The new VF Valiant was a home-run; blending muscular attitude and good looks with a genuinely great driving package.
Based heavily on the US’ Dodge Dart, the VF Valiant’s slant-six (or 5.2lt V8 in the Rgal 770) was coupled to either a three-speed manual or a three-speed TorqueFlite auto.
Overall, in their day Chryslers’ Valiants were celebrated as a keenly-priced value-offering amongst equivalent (and slower) 186S Monaros, or much dearer foreign imported vehicles.
This 1970 VF Valiant Regal is a prior restoration, with work carried out in the early 2000s.
It bears its factory 318 (5.2lt) V8 and three-speed TorqueFlite auto: and is described as having excellent chrome, paint and interior.
It looks hard to fault in the photos, and is said to have been always garaged and driven sparingly – and having never posed a problem over 10 years of cruising.
The car is based in Perth and is listed for $45,000.
