1969 Holden HT Kingswood Wagon – Todays Tempter

Immaculately presented HT Kingswood wagon: very original

Holden’s annual facelift of 1969 arrived in the form of the evolutionary HT.

There were no drastic cosmetic revisions, and the new-for-69 HT was easily missed despite Holden’s claim of “65 major improvements”. Most punters could spot the mandatory tail light revisions, and even the new plastic grille on lower-spec models.

The Kingswood gained similar wheel arch mouldings to the preceding HK Premiers and Monaros.

Under the bonnet across the range; the six-cylinder engine options were carried over, while the imported 5.0lt V8 was replaced with the Australian 253 and 308s, with the big 350ci Chev reserved for the GTS350 Monaro.

Improved NVH came courtesy of new neoprene bushes in the front suspension, as well as revised gearbox mounts. A welcome development was a fully-synchromesh three-speed manual.

This HT Kingswood station wagon looks to be an incredibly well-presented and preserved vehicle in very original condition and specification.

It’s fitted with the 186 (3.3lt) six-cylinder mated to a Powerglide auto.

The Pharoah Gold duco looks to be in very good condition, with only a small dent visible in photos on the tailgate. Complimented by a Kashmir White roof and period NASCO mudflaps and rear venetians.

The green vinyl interior equally well-preserved down to the working original AM radio.

Overall, the car looks to be in outstanding condition. It is not stipulated whether the paint and interior are original, or restored and reupholstered, but the car looks like a great ready-to-go cruiser with a thoughtful disc brake conversion up front.

The Kingsy wagon is based in New South Wales and is listed for $29,500.
