Legendary coupe
Having a V8 GTS Monaro back in the later sixties really set you apart. Though the Monaro series sold well, they still weren’t exactly something you’d see rows of parked at the nearest supermarket. Least of all in premium form.
A Wheels magazine road test back when these were new noted: “Driving it, the feeling is reinforced and you end up with a positive kinship with the latest addition to the super-car arena.
“GM-H calls it ‘Australia’s first sports machine’. That may be a bit presumptuous but it certainly is sporty. And whether it will ‘drive you wild’ (again the maker’s phrase) probably depends on how you drive it and the way you treat it.”
This example is with Motorvation Garage near Melbourne, priced at $199,888.
