1969 Aston Martin DBS – today’s tempter

Brit classic

The history of this car talks to a very different era. Ordered as part for a tourist delivery scheme, it was specified to the buyer’s tastes, then delivered in at the factory so the owners could enjoy a European driving holiday before shipping it home. That was Papua New Guinea.

Such schemes were popular for decades up to and including the 1980s, but were eventually killed off by ever-tightening regulation.

Built to Australian spec with a long list of extras, the DBS runs a Vantage-spec 4.0lt six with five-speed manual.

The seller says it presents as a time capsule that has been used and maintained. The odometer is showing under 60,000 miles.

It’s with Oldtimer in Brisbane, priced at $204,950.
