C-code 289ci Windsor, auto, looks like a very nice example
Ford’s Mustang was an instant-hit of unprecedented popularity that then twent on to transcend into a lasting icon. It brought personal sports motoring to the mainstream, and made it desirable, in a way that its rivals like the Chevrolet Chevelle hadn’t quite been able to.
It famously received 22,000 factory orders on opening day with almost 1.3 million manufactured after the first three years of production.
The 1968 model year saw the introduction of the larger optional J-code 302ci V8 along with small packaging changes including front and rear side markets, shoulder belts and an energy absorbing steering wheel.
This ’68 convertible comes to market specified with the standard C-code two-barrel 289ci Windsor V8, matched to a three-speed auto.
According to the listing’s description, the 289ci Windsor was rebuilt 2,000kms ago.
The car remains in its native left-hook configuration with a new bench seat fitted along with new front and rear interior trim. The seller does state that the car will come with its original trim pieces too.
The ragtop Mustang also boasts power steering, power roof and some neat GT fog lights.
It looks to be a handsome unit with great paint, white C-stripes, and minilite-style wheels.
The car is currently on non-transferable club registration and will be sold unregistered.
It’s based in New South Wales and is listed for $49,500.
