Budget price Ford classic
Replacing the highly successful MkI Cortina the year decimal currency was introduced here, 1966, the Roy Haynes designed second generation small Ford was produced at Ford’s Broadmeadows plant until 1970.
With modern but boxy looks, it was wider than its predecessor giving it a roomier interior. The ride and handling were improved and it had a smaller turning circle.
It sold as both two and four-door sedans, a wagon, and a Lotus fettled version too. All were powered by four-cylinder engines of varying capacities and power.
Here we have a 1968 Cortina 440, signifying it’s a four-door. It is fitted with the largest engine available at the time, a 1600cc and tied to a three-speed column automatic.
Although it needs work, it has been with the same owner since 1974 and is just $7500. It shows 120,000 miles and comes with a road worthy certificate.
