400-cube V8
We’ve long been saying that if you’re looking for max bang for your buck in the muscle car market, American cars are the place to start.
With Australian models priced as investments as much as they are cars, USA alternatives stack up very well.
Here’s an interesting example: A very late first-generation Pontiac Firebird 400 convertible with the premium 400-cube (6.6lt) V8 claiming 335hp and a THM400 three-speed auto.
Firebirds of this generation were offered with five engines, including two sixes, and several transmission options including manuals.
While it’s the second generation which was made famous in TV shows such as The Rockford Files, these earier cars have plenty of charisma.
It’s said to be in very good overall shape and is with Apex in Moss Vale NSW at $85,000.
