The Mark I Mini surely has to be one of the most iconic automobiles of the 20 century, with a strong presence across a number of disciplines from the racetrack, to the silver screen.
Built between 1959 and 1967 in the UK, the MK I Morris Mini was also produced locally here in Australia, with production taking place in Sydney.
The Aussie built MK I Minis were actually still being produced until 1970, well past the final build date of its British brethren.
The Aussie Mini was also redesigned to feature things such as new doors with regular cabin handles, wind up windows with quarter vents, ‘Hydrolastic’ suspension, key-start ignition and an uprated 998cc in-line four-cylinder donk.
The Mark I’s power was sent to its front wheels via either a four-speed manual or a four-speed automatic transmission, making it appealing to a wide demographic.
Interestingly, the hotted up version of the Mini, the Cooper/Cooper S, was even said to be used by local highway patrol as an undercover/plainclothes vehicle.
This particular Mini is a ’67 Deluxe model with the four-speed manual transmission and, according to the seller, the vehicle has been garaged under his ownership for the past 14 years.
The Mini Deluxe is $6500 and anyone interested in this pocket rocket can view the full listing here.
