Old American V8 luxury cruiser in great condition
Ford America’s luxurious line of LTD would span decades from the 60s to the 80s, and began as an upmarket repackaging of the US Galaxie in 1965.
Over the next few years, the LTD would expand – gracing the bodies of many existing FoMoCo platforms from the Country Squire wagon, to Broughams and Fairlane coupes and four-door hardtops.
Even though they were well into the successful smaller pony car phenomenon, these large full-sizers were still capable muscle cars with a bevy of V8 engine options to choose from.
The same 289 and 302ci Mustang V8s could be found on the options list, while bigger Thunderbird V8s could be fitted; ranging from 352ci, through 390ci, to the fabled Cobra 427 and Thunderbird 428 at the top end.
Visually, you can see where the inspiration for the front end of Ford Australia’s ZC Fairlane came from.
This American 1967 Ford LTD comes in four-door hardtop guise, resembling the Galaxie, and specified with the Thunderbird’s 390ci V8.
From the photos, the big LTD looks to be well-kept throughout, coming from a Western Australian climate.
The listing describes the car as very original, though it is unclear as to what extent, or if any light refurbishing has been carried out.
It presents very well however, in its native left-hook configuration and some slight sun fading and patina observed in the interior.
If you’re after a big comfy cruiser, this American Ford might fit the bill nicely. It’s based in Western Australia and is listed for $27,988.
