Premium C2 Sting Ray
If you think about American muscle cars with iconic styling, you’d have to include the C2 Corvette Sting Ray. Even today, a tidy example will draw a crowd pretty much wherever it goes.
In a feature on these iconic cars we noted: “Most prominent and successful of the big-engined Chevrolets released for 1966 was the Corvette Sting Ray 427. Bill Mitchell’s extraordinary C2 shape had already stunned sports car devotees across the world and from 1966 it came with power to match its looks. All-wheel disc brakes had arrived a year earlier and helped a lot when trying to stop from the wicked side of 240km/h.”
This example was clearly a premium order as it came from the factory with the 427, close-ratio four-speed manual, power steering and side-pipes.
It is said to run the original engine and transmission which have undergone a freshen-up at some stage.
C2s are relatively uncommon in Australia, particularly in this premium spec. This one is with Oldtimer in Brisbane, priced at $249,950.
