Since its introduction in 1964, the Ford Mustang has been the definitive American Muscle car and, in the eyes of many, the ‘Stang is probably one of the most influential cars of the 20 century.

The first generation of the Mustang was built between March 1964 and June 1973, and spawned many different model variants in that time.

The pony car could be had in three different body styles: a two-door hardtop coupe, a two-door fastback and a two-door convertible.

Power came from a vast array of donks that comprised a 2.8lt, 3.3lt or 4.1 inline six-cylinder or a 4.3lt, 4.7lt, 4.9lt, 5.8lt, 6.4lt or 7.0lt V8

The shove from these motors was sent to the rear wheels via either a three or four-speed manual or a three-speed automatic transmission.

The first generation of the Mustang was a unbelievably successful model for the Blue Oval, with over 2.9 million being built in its nine years of production.

This particular ‘Stang is a ’65 Fastback with the 4.9lt bent-eight motor and three-speed automatic ‘box.

According to the seller, the vehicle has been skilfully restored over the past 12 months using the highest quality componentry.

The finished product is meant to represent a tribute to both the GT350 and the ‘Eleanor’ Mustang from Gone in 60 Seconds.

The Fastback Mustang is $77,500 and anyone interested in this ace American muscle car can view the full listing here.
