Thanks in large part to its numerous appearances in the James Bond film franchise, Aston Martin’s DB5 has become one of the world’s most desirable cars.
In a rare driving review of a period example, Car magazine in the UK noted: “That gorgeous straight-six is at the forefront of the DB5’s entire driving experience; it’s just so chilled out, burbling and humming away, unstressed even if you’re giving it some. ‘More, sir? Why, yes, of course’ is its default response to heavy throttle inputs, developing speed with obliging purpose, if no dramatic urgency. The DB5 is plenty quick enough.”
Under the bonnet is a 4.0lt straight six claiming a healthy 282hp, matched to a five-speed manual.
Oldtimer in Brisbane is offering this example at $1.5 million.
