1963 Jaguar Mk II – today’s tempter

Slick Brit

Jaguar’s MkII occupies a unique space in the marque’s history with its combination of mid-sized saloon body, high degree of comfort, good handling and sparkling performance from the premium straight six 3.8lt engine. (A few different engine packages were offered in this platform.)

Disc brakes all round were standard, while you could opt for power steering, overdrive and the 3.8 came with a limited slip diff. A top-spec car claimed 0-100km/h in 8.5 sec and a top speed of 200km/h.

It seemed to have this reputation for a dual personality: Being desired by the well-to-do as passport to luxury motoring, and with more notorious types who saw it as a surprisingly capable get-away car.

This example claims extensive restoration work. It’s in NSW, priced at $39,000.
