Cheap project! Reportedly runs and drives, entirely original
Holden’s EJ was a radical departure from the preceding EK; visually ditching its very-60s fins and eye-lids for a flat boot and low roofline.
While the looks were brought into modernity, Holden stuck with the trusty – if not old – Grey motor which was reliable, but offered no real performance improvements, especially compared to the XL Falcon’s ‘pursuit’ models.
Uninspired performance aside, they’re still a handsome classic with plenty to like.
This 1963 EJ on sale here – is completely original and untouched, and certainly looks it.
But it’s cheap, and might be the perfect donor or base for someone looking to embark on the restoration of a true Aussie classic.
With a three-speed column-shift coupled to its trusty old grey motor, the car apparently runs and drives, though is currently unregistered.
The listing states “very little rust” – though you’ll have to be the judge for yourself on that one. The interior is described a “fair”, and from the photos looks to be mostly complete and intact, but certainly shows its age.
Overall – the car needs plenty of work, but for a listed $6,700 might be the right place to start.
The car is based in Victoria, and you can check out the full listing here!
