V8 coupe
Few cars embody the optimism of the ‘jet era’ of the early 1960s better than Ford’s third-generation Thunderbird.
In a profile of the series, Cliff Chambers notes: “Helping bolster the T-Bird’s appeal to younger buyers was product placement on a grand scale; a red convertible for Elvis Presley in Follow That Dream and the specially-equipped Landau supplied a few years later for Dean Martin’s Matt Helm character in Murderers’ Row just two examples of the Thunderbird’s 1960s film and TV credits.”
As you might expect, this car is running the 390ci V8 with three-speed Cruisomatic transmission. Power steering, air-conditioning and power windows are part of the package.
It’s with Pennant Hills Auto in Sydney, priced at $60,000.
