Mostly original, finned 60s classic cruiser for under 20K!
The second-generation Cadillac De Ville was introduced in 1961, and ended production in 1964.
Visually, it was a more restrained exercise in design, converse to the wildly-styled first generation from 1959 to 1960.
The rear fins got lower, and the leading edge of the bonnet was smoothed out – still framing those distinctive quad headlights.
In 1962, additional standard equipment included remote-control exterior mirrors, heater and defroster, and front cornering lamps. Also new for 1962 was a new braking system that utilised a dual master cylinder and separate front and rear hydraulic brake lines.
Engine options included a 390ci or a 429ci OHV V8, with either a four-speed Hydra-matic auto or a three-speed TH400 automatic.
This 1962 De Ville is reportedly an original car in reliable running condition.
All mechanical work has been carried out by a professional, and the owner states that it is a “solid car”, though he feels it’s time for the car to go on to a new owner who can give it the minor restoration it deserves.
The seller is transparent about some small rust spots in the doors and rear driver’s side pillar, thought the rest of the car presents very well in photos, with glistening blue metallic paint and an all-red interior which looks to be in pretty great condition!
The seller states that throughout his ownership, the car has received; new windscreen, fuel pump, disc brake kit, and replaced wheel hub bearings. The wiper motor has been rebuilt, and a retro looking stereo has been installed but never used. AC is in working order, and the car will come with the original spares including radio, headers and jack – as well as the original owner’s manual.
The car is listed for just $18,000 and would be a great base for a show-stopping resto, or attend to the minor rust spots and have yourself an incredible Sunday cruiser!
The car will come with RWC and plates shown, it is based in Queensland.
