Luxo wagon
There’s no doubt wagons are back in a big way in the classic market and, if you were looking for something that makes a big impression, here’s your answer: a 1960 Plymouth Fury up for auction through Shannons.
A 1959-60 Fury is rare enough in any form, let alone a wagon. It’s running a 318ci (5.2lt) V8 with push-button auto transmission.
The car is said to have spent a part of its life as a museum display and is reported to be in good overall shape.
This represents a high point for Plymouth. As we mention in a feature on Furys, “This (1959) was also the year when Plymouth as a brand peaked. It held third place behind Ford and Chevrolet, with some 458,261 sales. A good part of the credit for that number (23,867) belongs to the Sport Fury. Over 17,000 hardtops were built, though the survivor numbers are low.”
