1960 Chevrolet Impala – today’s tempter

1960 Chevrolet Impala

Cars like this capture the optimism of the ‘jet age’ and today still pack a big visual impact.

Hemmings in the USA notes: “Though the 1960 model resembles the ’59 Impala, the two cars share few body panels. Up front, the ’59 model’s sinister-looking eyebrows were wiped off the front edge of the hood and the quad headlamps were incorporated into the grille.

“Just in case buyers didn’t immediately pick up on the Jet-Age styling direction that Chevrolet was attempting to take in 1960, a pair of wide accent stripes that stretched the length of the quarter panels tipped by flashy chrome rockets served as not-so subtle reminders.”

This coupe runs a 348ci V8 with automatic transmission.

Classic & American Imports in Adelaide has it on the market for $104,990.
