Back in 2009, we put together a list of 13 of our favourite one-offs that had been featured in Unique Cars – or advertised for sale (not counting modified cars or ‘specials’). At number nine was this 1958 Buick Limited

We love chrome here at the Unique Cars office. The more the merrier, we say!
So when we got word that a fully restored, 1958 Buick Limited, was calling the Gold Coast home, it felt like all our Christmases had come at once.
Discovered on a Kansas farm by Carl Amor and his brother during a regular car hunting trip Stateside, the rusty wreck was barely recognisable as one of the most exclusive and excessive American cars ever built.
The mammoth restoration took place in Australia, and it’s still hard to believe the 2.3 tonne, bejewelled beast came from the factory like that. The grille itself contains 168, tiny, chromed pillars!
Just 1026 two-door Limited Hardtops were produced in 1958, and our only Silver Mist example is likely to stay put.
