1956 Chevrolet Bel Air – today’s tempter

American classic

Chevrolet’s Tri-Five Bel Air series has become an important marker for collectors of American classics – one of those models you have to own at least once in your life.

In a feature on the Harley Earl-influenced line-up we noted: “It saw the introduction of a new small block Turbo-Fire 265 V8 that was to grow in capacity and output to become legendary across the decades. That it was lighter and more powerful than the existing mainstream 235 inline six was a good start.
“Back in 1955, Chevrolet had 14 models in its range and its primary sales target was to beat Ford.”

This four-door is said to have been treated to a recent restoration, with little use since that time.

It’s with Classic and American Imports in Adelaide, priced at $69,900.
