Landmark model
Given the long-term popularity of coupe utilities in this country – at first ads workhorses and these days more often as toys – you’d have to say Holden’s first such model deserves landmark status.
The development of the FJ series, from the original 48-215, saw three sedan variants, plus a utility and panel van. The company toyed with station wagon, but that didn’t make it into production.
This example is a 1953 model running 12 volt electrics and electric windscreen wipers. It’s otherwise stock, including the Grey motor which now runs unleaded.
Located in Brisbane, the owner says it starts and runs like a new one. It’s on the market at $94,000.
