British classic
Back in the early 1950s, Briton Donald Healey became a pioneer in developing relatively low-cost high-performance sports cars with huge potential in the American market. And the BN1 is the result.
Our feature on this model traces its history, noting: “The gorgeous lines penned by Gerry Coker remained largely unchanged until production ceased in 1967, with many enthusiasts believing the original 2660cc four-banger to be the purest iteration of Donald Healey’s vision.
“While it may seem a little quaint these days, it’s still a beautiful shape – and was absolutely cutting edge at the time.”
This example is running the original configuration 2660cc four-cylinder engine, good enough for 100mph in the day, with a three-speed manual transmission.
Located in Cowra (NSW) it’s said to be in immaculate shape and is on the market at $82,500.
