1948 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith – today’s tempter

1948 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith

Advanced for its time, the post-WWII Silver Wraith managed solid performance despite its sheer size and presence.

Carole Nash in the UK notes that production numbers were small, even though its influence was great: “Due to the price and economic conditions of the time, the Silver Wraith had a limited production of 1783 examples. The cars reached the height of coach building, though the specialists who made them were disappearing. Production ended in 1958, though the sophistication of the Silver Wraith laid the groundwork for future models like the elegant Silver Shadow.”

Even now, they have a reputation for being comfortable and relatively reliable. A surprising number of owners still use them as regular transport.

This example claims to be one, running a 4.3lt straight six with automatic transmission. The seller says a lot of restoration work has been done.

Located in Sydney, it’s on the market for $127,000.
