Forties style
You can’t help but wonder what the makers of delivery vans would think when, decades later, their creation becomes a much-treasured classic.
Such is the case with Chevrolet delivery vans of the mid-1940s and on, thanks in part to a style that seems to have endured.
Fleetmaster and Stylemaster were two of the popular badges in this range and you could have them in numerous levels of trim, including as a fitted-out four-door Woodie station wagon. Plus, there were sedan and utility variants in the range.
Fleetmasters were built in Australia for the 1946-48 model years.
The engine of choice was a 216ci (3.5lt) straight six, with a three-speed manual transmission. A 235ci (3.9lt) six can also be found in the range, while some examples have been retrofitted with a V8.
