The Studebaker Champion is a full and mid-sized family car that was produced between 1939 and 1958.
There were five generations of the Champion, and over its 19 years of existence it was produced in Indiana and California in the US, and also in Australia.
The Champion was available in a number of different body styles that comprised a two-door sedan, two-door coupe, two-door wagon, two-door convertible, four-door sedan and a four-door wagon.
The third generation of the Champion was first released in 1947, and it was completely redesigned by Studebaker.
In fact, the third generation Champion was the first post-war model the auto manufacturer would produce.
New features of the post-war Champion included styling tweaks and upgrades that included a redesigned rear window, new grille, flat front fenders, backlit driving gauges and automatic courtesy lights.
Power came from a 2.8lt inline six-cylinder motor that produced around 60kW (80hp), and this shove was sent to the rear via a three-speed manual transmission.
This particular Champion is a ’47 Starlight Coupe model and, according to the seller, the vehicle has been fully restored and is in immaculate condition.
The seller adds that the Champion is a concourse winner and was the outright winner at the Classic and Historic Automobile Club of Australia (CHACA) in 1997.
