Built at a time when Packard was regarded as being among the cream of marques, this 740 Custom Eight would have cost as much as a large house.
According to Supercars.net, “Produced in from August 1929 forward, the Custom Eight was offered as an upgrade from the Standard Eight and had a longer wheelbase. It came in a variety of standard bodies including 15 from the Individual Custom Line by LeBaron, Brewster, Rollston and Dietrich.”
It runs a 6.3lt straight eight with four-speed manual transmission.
Originally a sedan, this example was rebodied as a roadster and underwent a comprehensive restoration as part of the process. An extensive photo file of the work accompanies the car.
