French classic
Okay, so the name may not roll off the tongue of most car enthusiasts and you’re forgiven if you’ve never heard of it. However Lorraine-Dietrich was a highly-regarded marque early last century, described by the seller as the French Bentley thanks to its interest in racing.
One of the company’s early engineering employees was Ettore Bugatti.
The company was also active in aviation.
This example is an upmarket machine for its day, thought to have been built in 1923 and registered in Australia the following year.
It has of course undergone a complete rebuild and features an original-spec 3.5lt six-cylinder engine.
This model is the B3-6 Sport Tourer, with the ‘tourer’ part emphasized thanks to the hand-made liquor cabinet in the rear compartment!
Oldtimer in Brisbane has it at $89,950.
