Rolls-Royce Phantom VI (1970) Non-Division Touring Limousine
With coachwork by H. J. Mulliner, Park Ward, this 7 seater, non-division Phantom VI is the ideal restoration project for any enthusiast of Rolls-Royce motorcars.
Delivered new to Mr. E. Manley-Walker of Slanmore, Middlesex via H. A. Fox & Co. Ltd on the 22/7/70 with a few interesting features which separates this car from other PVI's including: No division, plain 'Sundym' glass, 2" tow bar, nylon rugs to front and rear, G.B. plate, blue spot self seeking radio, full width occasional seats, full refrigeration, picnic tables and wing mirrors.
The original owner must have looked like a real queen driving this car, towing what one could only assume was a horse float.
The motorcar was then owned by the inestimable (perhaps) Conrad Black before he found himself forcefully re-homed. As will be discussed in the next paragraph, both he and this motorcar have enjoyed better days.
Unfortunately, it's current condition is not living up to the grandness of its original keeper, with corrosion typical of these motorcars in the front two body mounts and box sections - the more recent owner(s) must have been a real dill. The paint is fair and mechanically, it is pleasant and reliable to drive with a smooth gearbox and engine, but wanting for finishing off in terms of presentation and final tune. Nothing from our visual inspection indicate structural issues of any significance other than what is mentioned. The chassis is very sound and the fundamentals of the car are very solid, indeed. Of course, to understand fully what this project involves, one must simply inspect - anyone who knows these cars will realise what a great project this motorcar is and will know that, unlike Mr. Black, this car has a very sunny future, ideed.
A supremely rare and hugely practical classic motorcar, particularly if you wish to drag your nearest and dearest six along to every Rolls-Royce meeting and event. The only non-division Phantom VI in the country (and one of only two or three built) and one of only seven Phantom VI's in Australia - a truly unique and interesting opportunity.
