Luxury V8

Ford’s move into the luxury personal car segment with the Landau was bold and ever since these well-equipped cars have made something of a statement.

We did a background story on these and the equivalent LTD a little while back. It noted: "It’s 1973 – a half century ago – and Ford is launching a bold new luxury car line: the P4/P5 Landau and LTD. It’s a more ‘Australianised’ entry into the sector. We’re talking of a time when the locally-assembled Galaxie was being retired.

"The inclusion of the Landau was perhaps the biggest surprise. It was done at the insistence of legendary Ford exec Bill Bourke, who had moved from Australia to an international post by the time the car was released."

This example runs the 351 V8, FMX three-speed auto, LSD and four-wheel disc brakes. The seller says it was treated toa respray around seven years ago.

Located in Lucknow NSW, it’s on the market at $97,500.
