Completed in 2016, this Austin Healey was the subject of a comprehensive, ground-up build by ‘The Healey Factory’ of Melbourne Australia. The bespoke build included the custom fabrication of an aluminium/steel wide body, built on a new Kilmartin chassis, with a number of upgrades, including: rally vents, a modified rear bulkhead inclusive of late 3000 radius arm boxes, modified footboxes and braces, custom engine and gearbox mounts, and a recessed battery box.

Presenting impeccably, the Healey features concours quality, Glasurit ‘Regal Peacock’ bodywork, with a full, green Connolly leather interior and dark green Wilton carpets, accented by the matching green fabric hood and tonneau cover. The cockpit also features electronic custom gauges with integrated warning lights, as well as a wood-rimmed Moto-Lita Derrington-style steering wheel, with stalk operated headlights and indicators.

The mechanical package includes, but is not limited to a 302ci DART Windsor block, taken out to 363ci, with a forged crankshaft, I-beam rods, forged pistons, hydraulic roller cam, roller rockers, aluminium AFR Renegade 58cc heads, custom ceramic-coated extractors and exhaust, alloy inlet manifold with quad IDA Weber downdraft carburettors, MSD ignition, billet-steel flywheel, high-output alternator and high-torque starter.

The superb power is delivered through a 5-speed Tremec gearbox, custom tailshaft and 3.5:1 ‘Healey Factory’ limited-slip differential, to the 15×7-inch well-laced 72-spoke Dayton chrome wire wheels. The braking has been upgraded to power assisted twin-circuit discs with AP Racing front calipers, and ceramic coated Lamborghini Miura calipers on the rear. To assist with the vastly improved performance, the lever-arm shock absorbers have been replaced with Koni telescopic shocks front and rear, whilst the steering utilises a Healey factory custom steering rack and pinion set-up.

This Healey has an intoxicating level of power and torque, which is effortlessly transferred to the road, allowing for spirited drives while still very much capable of long-range touring in comfort. A bespoke build to the highest of standards, this V8 wide body Healey is an exceptionally rare opportunity to purchase a ‘cost no object’ over capitalised passion project, looking the part on both a Healey club run and on display at ‘Meguiar’s MotorEx’.
