The Mercedes-Benz S-Class has historically been the world-leading car in regards to technological innovation, and carried the flag as Mercedes-Benz’s utmost top model.

The ‘Sonderklasse’ or "Special-Class" badge carried weight, prestige and heritage.

The W126, produced from 1979 to 1991, was the second-generation of the S-Class nameplate. Over the course of its lifecycle, you could purchase the German pseudo-limousine in both short and long wheelbase sedans as well as a svelte pillarless coupe.

The car was powered by a swathe of inline-sixes, V8s that appeared in both carburetted and fuel-injected forms over the production run.

The S-class is famous for featuring the absolute cutting-edge of technology in its day, and there’s little lacking from today in this late-80s executive limo.

This 1987 Mercedes-Benz 300SE presents in rare willow green duco with cream leather interior. It’s a two-owner car and looks well-cared for.

From the 300SE nomenclature, the car can be identified as a standard wheelbase sedan, powered by Mercedes’ M103.981 3.0lt inline-six. The listing identifies the car as an automatic, likely the four-speed 4G-Tronic gearbox manufactured by Mercedes from 1981 to 1996.

The seller states that everything in the car is in perfect working order. It’s not a showroom or concours condition car, but a lovingly cared for - though still used - car.

It’s got 237,000kms on the clock, but with proper maintenance, this Autobarn-annihilating saloon will kick on for many clicks more!

These things have a great reputation for reliability, and if you’re in need of a classic that you can feasibly drive every day, this could be well worth a look!

The car is based in Victoria and is listed for $7,300.
