First arriving in 1945, the MG TC was the first post-war MG and was hugely successful in spawning the ‘sports car craze’ in the USA.

Largely similar to the pre-war MG TB, the new TC utilised the same 1250cc OHV inline-four cylinder engine with a slightly higher compression ratio ultimately yielding 40.6kW at 5200rpm.

The TC was more successful than any MG before it, with 10,001 examples built between September 1945 and November 1949.

The MG TC also proved popular in Australia with various TC Specials constructed, many destined for the racetrack characterised by sleek Monoposto bodies.

This 1947 MG TC is one such Monoposto-clad racers, with documented and continuous racing history dating back to 1947.

It’s raced at Bathurst, Mt Druitt, Fishermans Bend, as well as over the pond in New Zealand.

The car now boasts a supercharged 1400cc engine that’s been fully rebuilt with billet crank, Argo rods and Russell cam. The engine as it stands, has participated in one race meeting.

This historic racer is being sold by its current long-term owner who, since 1988, has both raced and restored the aluminium-clad bullet.

The seller states that at age 83, he has finally decided to hang up the helmet, and feels it’s time to move on his beloved historic MG.

The car is in excellent condition and ready to race. It comes with new Hoosier tyres on the rear, spare original body panels, and Log Book and documentation.

It’s a unique car with decades of history and heritage.

The car is based in New South Wales, and is listed for $65,000 or nearest offer.
