Day 3: Clocking up the 1000km mark on day three, Rod & Archie Allen inadvertently found themselves in the midst of a classic car club run and even became part of a photo opportunity with a Hen's party in Cann River!

Morgan 3-Wheeler Long Drive - Day 3

Drive:              Traralgon to Bateman’s Bay

Distance:         592.6 klms

Fuel:                59.5L

We decided to get some distance behind us today. Eight hours of Morganing. Bliss.

Just as we left Sale we started seeing lots of classic cars. We suddenly realised we were in the middle of a car club day out. There were classic Monaros and restored XD Falcons as well as a ’61 Chevy and a purple Hot Rod. We slotted into the middle of the pack and people passing would have thought we belonged with them. They all stopped at Lakes Entrance and we were back to being unique.

The beautiful mountain roads from Orbost to Cann River in Victoria were fantastic. Just past here, near the Victoria-NSW border we clocked up the 1,000km mark. One down, two to go.

When we stopped for petrol in Cann River we suddenly heard all this screaming and were descended upon by a Hen’s Party. The girls had a mini bus and were obviously doing a pub crawl around the district. They all wanted their photos taken with the M3W. And that’s all I’ve got to say about that.

After a few more kilometres on the Princes Hwy, we were ready for some more back roads. A right turn at Merimbula and we were back on the coast all the way to Bermagui. Definitely worth the detour. Lots of motorcycles coming the other way confirmed our impression that this was a fun piece of road. Lots of twists and turns and good quality road. Perfect.

Stayed the night at Bateman’s Bay.

Tomorrow up to Braidwood, over the range to Nowra and on to Sydney via Wollongong.
