The 6th annual Motorclassica will kick off this year over the weekend of October 23-25, at Carlton's heritage-listed Royal Exhibition Building.

This year's main theme celebrates 50 years of the supercar, beginning with the mid-sixties, which saw the introduction of the legendary Lamborghini Miura.

Top of the list of supercars will be a McLaren F1 which is valued today at $10 million.

Ferrari will be celebrating 50 years of the Dino in its display, as well as other exotics like a $1 million 365 GTB/4 Daytona, a $1.5 million F40 and a $2 million Ferrari 288 GTO.

There will also be a Pagani Zonda, worth a cool $1.5 million, plus a Porsche 959 and a rare XJ220 Jaguar.

Event director, Paul Mathers, says, "Supercars are hard to define, there's no dictionary definition, but fundamentally these are the ultimate road cars...the fastest, most advanced, most desirable cars on earth. And not surprisingly, often the most expensive."

"We've assembled a truly fabulous collection of the fastest and rarest, it's a line-up of the likes of which has never been seen in Australia before - and is unlikely to again," he adds.

Motorclassica is expecting to feature more than 100 cars and 50 motorcycles in this year's exhibition, plus around 200 cars each day over the weekend in the popular Club Sandwich car club displays around the grounds.
