2013 RACV Motorclassica - Isotta Fraschini

A rare Isotta Fraschini Tipo 8, discovered in a shed in Melbourne's outer suburbs, will be a star of this year's Motorclassica, held at Melbourne's Royal Exhibition Building from October 25-27.

The Tipo 8, the world’s first serial-produced car with a straight-eight engine, was found after a call to ABC Radio commentator and car enthusiast, Jon Faine.

Having sat in a shed for 50 years awaiting restoration, the Isotta took eight people a full day to extract it.

It now resides at Olsen’s Classics, where new owner Glenn Olson aims to make the barn-find "the best Isotta Fraschini in the world." Given the condition of the vehicle and its rarity, the restoration is expected to take years, but the completed vehicle is expected to be worth in excess of a million dollars.

In addition to the Isotta, this year's event will celebrate 100 years of Aston Martin and styling house Bertone, 60 years of Chevrolet Corvette and 50 years of Lamborghini.

Melbourne's RACV Motorclassica will be held on 25-27 October at the Royal Exhibition Building in Carlton. More than 350 cars and motorcycles will be on display in and around the building, including the adjacent 'Club Sandwich' club displays.
