Latrobe Valley Street Machine Show 2017 Gallery
On the first Sunday of February, revheads from all over Victoria converged at the Traralgon showgrounds for the Latrobe Valley Street Machine Show.
The organisers expected to see around 300 cars line up on that Sunday, but were shocked when nearly double that figure rolled in.
"It’s really fantastic," Said organiser and Rotarian, Graham Moore "The amount of entrants is just mind boggling. There must be at least 500 cars here!"
The show was organised by the Latrobe Valley Street Machiners Car Club, who regularly put on events and have raised thousands of dollars for charity over the years. All proceeds from the Traralgon show have been donated to the REH Cork Club Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal, but it’s not just the charity that benefits from events like these.
"I think we need more of this in country Victoria, to help the towns out and give something for the local kids to do. A lot of small businesses rely on tourism, and this event attracts people from all over," Moore explains.
"A lot of the people here will stay in town, eat at the local restaurants and see the local attractions. It’s absolutely invaluable for the community".
The organisers and attendees are already looking forward to the next show. If you didn’t make it this time around, head to www.lvstreetmachiners.com, and stay up to date with the LVSM’s upcoming events.
