Now for sale from Orange, NSW is a stunning much loved concours restored example of the famous MGB Mk 2 Roadster.

Launched at the 1962 London Motor Show, the MGB went on to become one of the most successful sports cars ever made, both from a commercial standpoint (with over half a million made) and for its unsurpassed ability to deliver an exceptional driving experience at an affordable price.

The MGB employed BMC's three-bearing B-series four-cylinder engine, running twin SUs and developing 95 horsepower at 5400 rpm, combined with a rugged four-speed gearbox and the option of Laycock overdrive on third and top gears. The rest of the running gear, including the steering, suspension and back axle, were sourced from BMC's parts bin. In September 1964, MG updated the original B-series motor with a five bearing crankshaft and added a fixed-head variant, badged the GT, the following year. More significant changes took place in October 1967, with the adoption of an all-synchromesh gearbox (plus the option of automatic transmission to broaden the B's appeal) and improved electrics, with an alternator replacing the dynamo found on earlier cars.

Further changes were necessitated by new safety legislation, including a collapsible steering column and padded dashboard. Dubbed the Mark II, the 1967-1973 MGBs arguably offer the best all-round package, retaining all the purity of the original design with a more enjoyable (not to mention reliable) driving experience. The MGB is, quite simply, the most popular sports car ever made in Britain and as an affordable, practical and fun two-seater, one that still has lots of appeal today.

FOR SALE is a stunning much loved example of the Mk 2 MGB. Concours restored in 2001 in signature British Racing Green with black trim this MGB has been in the ownership of the current owner for the past 20 years.

The MGB presents in excellent condition throughout with an older paint job and original glass, chrome and stainless. The interior is all original with a small repair to the driver's seat. All the Smiths gauges work and the odometer reads 63,394 miles and is believed to be original. The MG comes with a leather sports steering wheel fitted and the original MG steering wheel included in the sale.

Mechanically the MGB is running the matching numbers 1.8 Litre 4 cylinder engine, producing 95bhp and 150Nm of torque delivered to the rear wheels via a 4 speed manual gearbox with optional overdrive (effectively a 6 ratio gearbox). Performance was claimed at 0-100kph in 11.9 secs and a top speed near 170kph. The MGB has been meticulously serviced and used sparingly for club related events. The car comes with a receipt file for works carried out over the years.

The MGB comes with a fold down soft top in excellent condition plus an as new fitted tonneau over.

Riding on excellent Pirelli P3000 185/70R14 tyres on the factory knock off chrome wire wheels with spare and tools in the boot.

Currently on club registration. Located in Orange, NSW for your inspection. (Ref. 6405)

If you wish we will gladly arrange a video tour of the car using WhatsApp and of course there is no issue with door to door enclosed transport anywhere in Australia or New Zealand.
