There's good value out there if you're looking for an SS from this era.

Holden Commodore VN-VT 1989-98 - market review 2017-18

The 1990s was a very important decade for Holden as the second-generation Commodore came on stream.

Back then when V8 ownership remained popular, lots of 5.0-litre VN-VT cars were sold.

V8-engined utilities were popular but none have retained much value and very good Executive V8s and Berlinas stay firmly under $10,000.

SS versions and the 5.0-litre Calais are starting to spark buyer interest but remain cheap.

Accurately valuing early Commodore utilities is tough because so few remain and V8s are especially scarce.

However they look to be matching the value resurgence of VN- VP SS sedans.

VN-VP V8 $7285 [17]

VR-VT V8 $6065 [14]

VG-VT V8 Utility $10,000 [13]

VN-VP SS $10,200 [4]

VR-VT SS $9150 [28]
